Find Out Which Treatment Is Right For You
We know that your smile is important to you. Our South Calgary office offers many dental health services to restore damaged and decayed teeth.
Porcelain veneers are thin shells of porcelain that are bonded to the front of your tooth. They are typically used to improve the colour and shape of the teeth. When teeth are chipped, misaligned or are beginning to wear, porcelain veneers are used to protect teeth from additional damage and while restoring or enhancing their original appearance.
Porcelain Veneers may be used to correct teeth with issues such as:
Staining and discoloration
Improve the appearance of crooked and misaligned teeth
Lengthen teeth that appear short
Close spaces or gaps between teeth
Completely change the dynamics of your smile
What To Expect With Veneers
Dr. Alina Drosu, General Dentist and Dr. Mona Khodabakhsh, General Dentist can transform your smile with porcelain veneers, or they may be used to conceal any and all of the imperfections you may have. Porcelain veneers are also used to camouflage cosmetic problems on teeth that have a relatively correct natural size, shape, and alignment.
Please remember that it is important to have realistic expectations about what can be accomplished. Please know that although cosmetic dentistry has come a long way, no restoration can replace your natural teeth. We know that if you understand these limitations, you’ll be happier with the final results!
Do you need to repair or replace a broken or discoloured dental crown? Dental crowns are a reliable dental restoration that is used to restore the function of teeth that have large restorations or have had root canal treatment. At Midpark Dental, we are pleased to offer all-ceramic South Calgary dental crowns to restore function while maintaining the natural aesthetics of your teeth.
Dental crowns are the preferred treatment option for teeth that have fillings that become larger than the natural tooth structure. In addition to large fillings, teeth that have undergone root canal therapy and teeth that suffer from reoccurring tooth decay benefit from dental crowns.
Your teeth have undergone Root Canal Therapy. After root canal therapy, teeth become brittle and are more susceptible to fracture. Root canaled teeth need to be protected with dental crowns.
How Dental Crowns Are Made
Dental crowns are custom made using a variety of materials. We obtain a detailed impression of your teeth, which is sent to our dental laboratory where your custom crown is created by a professional lab technician. During your appointment, Dr. Alina Drosu, General Dentist and Dr. Mona Khodabakhsh, General Dentist will shape your tooth to fit the new crown.
Midpark Dental offers South Calgary dental bridges as a functional and aesthetically pleasing option for replacing missing teeth. Restoring missing teeth with dental bridges has many advantages. Well-executed and properly maintained, bridges ensure high comfort and aesthetics and patients get accustomed to them in a short time.
There are many types of dental bridges available, and the best option for you depends on your specific situation. Dr. Alina Drosu, General Dentist will thoroughly examine your teeth to identify the best type of dental bridge for your situation.
The best candidate for a dental bridge is someone with one or more missing teeth with good overall dental hygiene. A dental bridge requires special attention to hygiene at home which includes flossing under the bridge. We also monitor how your dental bridge is functioning with regular dental visits and professional hygiene appointments.
How Dental Bridges Work
Dental bridges are attached to the teeth on either side of the missing tooth (or teeth) which are called abutments. The abutment teeth are shaped in order to accommodate the dental bridge and will look very similar to the size and shape of the original teeth. A pontic is fused in-between the abutments in order to replace the missing tooth or teeth in that area. We primarily use full porcelain dental bridges, but there are cases where a dental bridge can be made from gold, metal alloys, or a combination of these materials.
After your tooth is prepared, we will take an impression that is sent to our dental lab for processing. To protect your teeth until your new dental bridge is made, we will make a custom temporary bridge for you to wear. A dental bridge not only restores the function of your teeth, but it also prevents the surrounding teeth from drifting out of position and into the space created by the missing teeth.
Restore natural form and function with a natural look! We are proud to be an amalgam-free dental practice. We use white fillings to restore the function of teeth that have dental decay or have been damaged by trauma and they may be used as a cosmetic dentistry option for cosmetic bonding treatments.
The most obvious benefit of white fillings is the aesthetic results we are able to achieve. We are able to blend different shades of white filling material to match the natural remaining tooth structure.
White filling material bonds directly to the tooth remaining tooth structure, reducing the instance of breakage and insulate your tooth from temperature changes.
Why We Use White Fillings
Traditional dental filling materials, which are best known as silver fillings, are not always aesthetically pleasing options for restoring the function of your teeth. White filling materials have been used for over 20 years, and many patients prefer white fillings over silver fillings for many reasons.
After we prepare your tooth, we will place the white filling material in thin layers, to rebuild the structure of your tooth. A special light is used to completely set the white filling material making it very hard and durable against normal biting forces.
